The No.1 selling cream for the symptomatic relief of recurrent vaginal yeast infections
DID YOU KNOW?
What is a vaginal yeast infection (vaginal thrush)?
A vaginal yeast infection, also known as vaginal candidiasis or vaginal thrush, is a common condition caused by an overgrowth of Candida, a type of fungus normally present in small amounts in the vagina. This overgrowth can lead to symptoms such as itching, burning, and abnormal discharge in the vagina. Vaginal yeast infections are treatable with antifungal medications like Canex V, which can help relieve these symptoms, providing ease and comfort.
Symptoms of vaginal yeast infections include:
Abnormal vaginal discharge (watery to thick, white odour-free discharge with a cottage cheese appearance)
Painful and burning urination
Itching and burning in and around the vagina
Redness and swelling of the skin just outside of the vagina
What causes vaginal yeast infections (vaginal thrush)?
A healthy vagina has a slightly more acidic pH that supports a normal balance of good microorganisms. Several factors can cause an imbalance in the vaginal flora and cause a vaginal yeast infection including:
Use of hormonal birth control
Broad-spectrum antibiotic use
Hormonal changes during pregnancy
Uncontrolled diabetes
Use of intimate perfumes or soaps in the vaginal area
Suppression of the immune system because of HIV infection, transplant, or cancer

Recurrent vaginal yeast infections
Approximately 5 % of women suffer from multiple vaginal yeast infections every year, which is known as recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (RVVC).
RVVC is more prevalent among women with diabetes or weakened immune systems, such as those who are HIV positive, but it can also occur in otherwise healthy women.
If you experience four or more yeast infections in a year, it is important to consult your healthcare practitioner.
Treatment of vaginal yeast infections
Complicated or recurrent vaginal yeast infections require treatment by a doctor for longer periods (up to 6 months).
Canex V can be applied into the vagina or topically on the outside of the vulva and can improve the symptoms of vaginal yeast infection. It is available as OTC medication at your nearest pharmacy.
Vaginal infections can be successfully treated with single dose or short course therapy.
